Q. I would like to make dentil molding for a cabinet project, but I cannot find a homemade tool plan to make the cuts consistent. I have looked in all my issues of Woodworker's Journal since 1999 & but to no avail.
A. Michael Dresdner: "This is one of those classic situations where a picture is worth a thousand words. The jig you want, which will work with both a router table and a dado blade on a table saw, is essentially a box joint jig, though you will be cutting the squares along the long edge of a thin, rectangular strip, instead of on the ends of a long, wide plank. You can find a good drawing and description of a box joint jig on page 48 of Sandor Nagyszalanczy's excellent book Woodshop Jigs & Fixtures."
